Beginner’s Guide to seasons in Louisville,KY
Here is a breakdown of the seasons in Louisville:
Fall: the first onset of Winter and cold weather where you only get about 4 days of “fall” temperatures and then things start to go downhill. The temperatures begin to drop rapidly and you may as well keep shorts and pants handy since it will be 70 one day and snowing the next.
Winter: You’ve just plunged into the season of artic blasts and polar vortices! You’re in this for the long haul now. You may get lucky and see one of those rare 50 or 60 degree days but don’t count on it. It’s a frozen tundra of ice, snow, and sleet. Weather conditions deteriorate rapidly and schools are cancelled for the anticipation of snow. Nothing seems as if it will survive, including your heating bill.
Spring: Most people like to associate this with warmer weather, goodbye winter and hello summer. False hopes!! I like to refer to Spring as the third phase of Winter, the bastard extension of colder air that somehow rears it’s ugly head after beautiful days of warmer weather. Like Fall, you actually only get about a week of spring like temps before it starts snowing again. Forget about planting gardens and flowers until after Derby, they’ll likely get washed away by the torrential rain floods or frozen by the surprise 20 degree temperatures from no where. It’s the one time of year snownados are present (70 one day, snow the next, and tornados the following day. This has actually happened quite a few times).
Summer: The time when Satan makes his appearance to Middle Earth and forces you to wish the frozen wasteland back into existence. It gets so hot and HUMID. You may as well bring Scuba gear with you when walking outside on a hot summer day in Kentucky. You can’t breathe, it feels like you are just swimming through air and moisture. And just as soon as you adapt to the 90+ temps with 80% humidity, Fall is right around the corner!
P.S. You will have allergies throughout all of these seasons. Fall and spring are worse but somehow you still have symptoms in winter and summer. Welcome to Kentucky!!!!

Goodbye 20’s! Hello 30’s!
what does one do in their last full day of their twenties?? I can say my twenties were definitely a learning, growing, and experimental decade! I met amazing people, made some horrible mistakes that I’m still recovering and paying for, changed the way I think about certain things, worked my ass off, lost more sleep than I should have, and cant count how many new and exciting experiences I’ve had and shared.
hopefully the next set is less stressful. ^_^
